Ludwig’s Insect Spray by Kirchhoffs (1L) | Garden insecticide for roses, veg and ornamentals.
Ludwig’s Insect Spray is a registered contact insecticide for South African home gardens. It combines canola oil, garlic extract and natural pyrethrins (with piperonyl butoxide as a synergist) to knock down common chewing and sucking pests on fruit, vegetables, roses, herbs, salads, bulbs, ornamentals, lawns and cannabis.
Canola oil smothers small-bodied insects on contact. Garlic helps keep pests off the plant. Pyrethrin can kill larger insects on contact and has a short residual of up to 24 hours. Harvest edible crops 24 hours after the last spray.
This 1L concentrate is the home-garden pack for rose beds, veg patches and patio pots. Mix and spray to cover both sides of leaves. It is low toxicity to mammals, moderately toxic to beneficial insects, and toxic to fish. Do not spray near ponds, dams or rivers.
What you can use it for:
Pests listed on the product: African bollworm, ants, aphids, CMR beetle, red spider mite, thrips and whitefly. Retail and label use also covers astylus beetle, chafer beetle, flower beetle, scale and similar garden insects when spray contact is good.
Plants and crops:
- Roses and flowering ornamentals
- Fruit trees and berries
- Vegetables and salad crops
- Herbs
- Bulbs
- Lawns
- Cannabis (as listed on the pack)
- Container plants on patios (cover floors first; not for carpets or tiles).
Best jobs in the garden:
- Aphids on new rose shoots and veg tips
- Red spider mite stippling on the underside of leaves
- Whitefly clouds on tomatoes and fuchsias
- Thrips damage on buds and petals
- Beetles chewing rose blooms
- Ants farming aphids on stems
Spray in the cool of morning or evening. Wet the pest, not just the top of the leaf. Repeat as the label allows, because pyrethrin residue is short. Test a few leaves first on sensitive varieties; high rates can scorch some plants.
This is a contact spray, not a systemic. Hidden mites in dense webbing or pests inside closed buds may need a second pass and good coverage.
